Evan Andres

Although Evan Andres grew up in Berkeley, California surrounded by great food, it wasn't until he took a trip to Chile that his future with bread became clear to him.

Fascinated by the bakers he observed working in Chilean bakeries, he returned to Berkeley and spent the next year baking at Metropolis Baking Company. After attending a course at the National Baking Center in Minneapolis, he accepted the head baking position at Macrina Bakery in Seattle where he worked for several years. Following a brief stint at Tall Grass Bakery, Evan went on to hold the head baking position at the Dahlia Lounge, where he created and baked all breads for Tom Douglas' restaurants and the Dahlia Bakery.

In 2003, Evan put bread baking on hold to support Julie at La Medusa. Two years later his dream of owning and operating his own bakery became a reality when he opened Columbia City Bakery just a few doors down from the restaurant. His breads are now served in some of Seattle's finest restaurants and the bakery has become one of Columbia City's busiest gathering spots.
